The Conspicuous Gallantry Medal GV.̴Ì_The first world war saw the greatest number of CGMs awarded (110) and the only bar ever awarded to the CGM was awarded to Arthur Robert Blore who had been awarded the CGM in Gallipoli and his bar in France.̴Ì_

In 1921 the ribbon of the CGM was changed to have a broad central white stripe with dark blue edges, this helped distinguish it from the DSC when ribbons alone were being worn.

No bars were awarded to the CGM during the reign of King George VI.
