Although this medal was authorised by His Majesty King Charles III through a Royal Warrant, it was originally approved by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on December 11th, 2018. It is awarded for eligible operations, with a maximum of three bars being given to those who have served for a total of 360 days (not necessarily continuous). The requirement for eligibility is 180 days of aggregated service.
